I found this on Just The Words, a blog I found today. I love both Yo-Yo Ma and Alison Kraus (altough I’d have never thought to put them together), and so just had to post this.

Hannah, it is I, Heidi of ‘just the words’
(Your link came up in my site thingummy as I was drinking off my daily pot of tea. I really don’t usually materialise like this out of nowhere freakily.) Just wanted to leave a note that this:
“I am a Christian, Reformed and Presbyterian and a home-school graduate who loves stories and writing.”
Could pretty much describe me, too. Though I fear that my journey into womanhood, which you mention later, is mostly behind me, and fairly bumpily performed. How truly nice to meet you over Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma (they’ve done another beautiful song here, and probably more I don’t know about). (Not sure what you’re like on Christmas, but hopefully it’s okay to enjoy well done carols in October even for the most uber of uber-reformed
)
I hope it’s okay if I browse around — I’m interested in your thoughts on writing.

Hello, Heidi! It’s nice to see you!
I love Christmas carols. I’ll go check that out!
Why is it that growing up is such a bumpy process, I wonder?

“Why is it that growing up is such a bumpy process, I wonder?”
I think in part, because sin is — not necessarily ‘childish’ which is not a bad thing — but ‘immature’: a sinful reality requires self denying grace to come to grips with and an idolatrous nature prefers its own flattering make believe world; so our old nature really, really doesn’t want to grow up. We have to be jerked along, kicking and screaming, by Mercy.
Re: writing: I noticed you said something about ‘rhythm’ in prose writing, which was interesting as most people don’t seem to consider this except in poetry (and even then . . . ) Have you posted any of your writing that has the kind of rhythm you were referring to? (yes I ended a sentence with a preposition
)

The category “Stories” has all of my writings that I’ve posted on here or given invitations to be privately read and critiqued. Hopefully, some of them will have that rhythm!
